G Reg 56 prov age 32 from Adj. Gen Roll of Honor as per Ector Capps on 2-22-84
Re Canada Henderson, Civil War Soldier the story was told that during the war
between the states there were 2 groups of men hiding out in a cave located in
the vacinity of the old Josiah Johnson Homeplace in the Dana Rd just past the
Deep Johnson's curve in teh Rd, Henderson Co. NC
One Group would stay in the cave and keep the fire going and hide while the
other group went out to get supplies eats. and visa versa. One time when a
group went outside they were apprehendeed by Canada Henderson, who thought to
be a Confederate who searched for deserters. He took the men up on the hill
and shot them all.
